Hello world!

Ok, WordPress..I guess I’ll let you decide the title of my first post here at Mommy Explorer!  Hello World!  I am Mommy Explorer…I travel quite often, and usually don’t live in one place for more than a year.  I’m a huge outdoors buff and a bit of a hippie mama.  My family is my husband, my 20 month old daughter…and me.   So let just jump right into my latest expedition:

Ocean City, MD

Our most recent visit was the begining of May!  We used to live in Ocean City and I still have family there so we visit often!  Every time I’m in Ocean City I have to swing by the boardwalk.  It’s not really anything special when it comes to beach boardwalks, but there are so many memories there that I cannot help myself but to stop by, plus I’m a sucker for arcades.  It feel likes a mini carnival when you visit in May, because the crowds are still pretty low and you can actually find a parking place, of course June is a completely different story!  So we strolled the boardwalk and tried our luck in the arcades then walked down to the beach.  One good/bad thing about Ocean City is that the walk to the ocean from the boardwalk is minimal compared to most I’ve been to, but it is a lot easier with a toddler in your arms!  Baby Explorer loves the beach, she gets close to the water then runs when the waves come in!

Want to visit?– Here’s a few things you’ll need to know:

*Do not go during the month of June.  This is where senior week takes place for 3 surrounding states…that means lots and lots of drunk grads!

*If you have younger kids and just want to enjoy the beach try to stay down the 100’s of Coastal Hwy.  It’s a lot less crowded.

*Eat at Hoopers!  Best “Crab Shack” I’ve ever been to, hands down!

*When you play the arcades on the boardwalk first scope them both out then choose the one you like best and only play there. (you cannot combine tickets)

*Some great surrounding areas include Assateague Island and Rehoboth Beach.
